We've sifted through April's mountainous pile of pop-ups and selected the six star events to get stuck into.

1. The one that will make you fat with biskies

This is a biskie.

What? Cutter & Squidge pop-up shop

Sweet toothed Cutter & Squidge have created the biskie — a cross between a biscuit, a cookie and a cake filled with lightened buttercream. For around two months they’ll be running a pop-up shop on Brewer Street serving these tempting treats along with jams, infusions, cakes, caramels and more.

2. The one with deep-fried haggis and beer

Scottish pop-up Dram & Smoke has teamed up with BrewDog to lay on an Easter Sunday lunch with a difference. The six-course meal will include haggis bon bons with buckfast broon sauce, slow-cooked rabbit with tattie scone, and a deep-fried Mars bar with cornflake ice cream and Irn Bru drizzle. Each course will be matched with a different BrewDog beer. The lunch will be served at BrewDog’s Shepherd’s Bush bar from noon.

3. The one that’s a social enterprise of women cooks

Mazi Mas.

Roaming restaurant Mazi Mas has settled down in Oval House Theatre for a couple of months. The initiative creates employment for aspiring women food entrepreneurs from migrant and refugee communities, and the menu served here will vary depending on the chef of the day. Cuisines represented include Senegalese, Peruvian, Filipino, Brazilian and Ethiopian.

4. The one where everything is deep-fried

Over 100 deep-fried items will be served at this collaborative pop-up from London Mess and Miss Cakehead, held in Boxpark over the Easter weekend. Food which will meet its fate in the deep fat fryer includes Cheesestrings, buttered crumpets, cheese-filled hot cross buns, BabyBel, Crème Eggs, Wagon Wheels and a whole joint of lamb.

5. The one with street food in a job centre

The Job Centre pub on Deptford High Street has started a series of kitchen takeovers, and this month it’s the turn of Prairie Fire BBQ (2-4), Bill or Beak (9-11), MeatHead (16-18) and The Cheese Truck (23-25).

6. The one where there isn’t any meat

A new pop-up opposite The Shard is out to showcase the very best of vegetarian street food, assembling a changing array of stalls from Monday to Saturday. Highlights will include: pulled jackfruit and other vegan Mexican dishes from Club Mexicana, substantial salads from The Salad Kitchen and meat-free hot-dogs from Not Dogs.

Ceru — Fitzrovia’s Middle Eastern pop-up Ceru was a big hit with us when we reviewed it recently. It’s around until the end of the month.

Sutton & Sons — This spin-off from Stoke Newington’s excellent chippie Sutton & Sons is in Shoreditch’s Boxpark for the next few months.
