Music Choice: London Festivals

No gig recommendations this week as pretty much everyone's off playing in a field so it seems timely to round up London's best music festivals − of every ilk this summer:

June

There's an eclectic mix of rock, opera and jazz at Mill Hill Music Festival, various venues, 25 June -2 July

Get 3 hours of Bon Jovi plus The Killers and Rod Stewart at Hard Rock Calling, Hyde Park, 24, 25, 26 June

Music on an Australasian theme pops up in unexpected places with City of London Festival, 26 June to 12 August (watch out for street pianos and guerilla performances)

Enjoy summer city blues at London Blues Festival, various cool venues, 27 June to 3 July

July

The Chemical Brothers and Pulp play Wireless, Hyde Park, 1-3 July

Jamie Oliver's got The Charlatans and Athlete to play The Big Feastival, Clapham Common, 1-3 July

Things get very trendy with The 1234 Shoreditch, Shoreditch Park, 9 July

Fingers crossed you land some free tickets to the excellent gigs at iTunes Festival, Roundhouse Camden, every night of July

Lots of ice cream, Ocean Colour Scene and Maximo Park lure you to Sundae Festival, Clapham Common, 23, 24 July

Rock hard with Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy and go prog with Jethro Tull at High Voltage, Victoria Park, 23, 24 July (includes a beer festival!)

Enjoy opera, blues, jazz and world music at Ealing Summer Festivals, Walpole Park, 17-31 July

The BBC Proms roll on from 15 July to 10 September, Royal Albert Hall and in the park.

See Snoop Dogg headline Lovebox, Victoria Park, 15, 16, 17 July

Celebrating music from the past seven decades Vintage moves into the Southbank Centre, 29-31 July

August

New bands plus legend John Cale are at Field Day, Victoria Park, 6 August

Steve Mason, St Etienne and Chilly Gonzales fill The Apple Cart, Victoria Park, 7 August

Free entry for local music and arts at Little London Fields. London Fields, 20 August

Everything is firmly plugged in for John Digweed, Sasha and Underworld at South West Four, Clapham Common, 27, 28 August

And beyond...

And jazz fans a reminder London Jazz Festival tickets are already on sale for their November shebang
