It's still quite quiet on London's art scene this week, if you're looking for new openings. Of course, there's still the Camden Fringe and the London Alternative Fringe if you're looking for something, well, fringey. For the rest, take your pick from the following:
London Shows Opening: Be There First
From tonight, you can catch some outdoor Shakespeare at Lauderdale House in Highgate. The Vene Vidi Theatre Company presents Othello on the Tea Lawn for the next four nights.
The English National Ballet's Cinderella opens at the London Coliseum tomorrow, as does the Bolshoi Ballet's Eugene Onegin at the Royal Opera House.
From Wednesday, art fans can get into gear with Faris Badwan at The Book Club, presenting drawings, artwork and projections by The Horrors frontman; or you can see Locate at Jerwood Space: works made in response to geographical locations, institutions, collections, fictional or conceptual spaces.
On Thursday, we like the sound of Hypercomics: The Shape of Comics to Come at the Pump House Gallery, and A Thousand Eyes Under the Sea at 97-99 Clerkenwell Road: an installation of animated sea creatures that turn the gallery walls into an aquarium.
If you've got kids, you'll be spoilt for choice with all the child-friendly shows about: the immersive In The Night Garden Live at The O2 from Saturday, The Little Big Club Live In Concert at the Hammersmith Apollo (also on Saturday) and Dr Death And The Medi-Evil Medicine Show at the New Diorama Theatre, also opening Saturday.
London Shows Closing: Last Chance to See
Tomorrow is your last chance to see Terence Rattigan's After The Dance (starring Sherlock Holmes) which is pretty much sold out, so you'll have to bunk off and get in the queue for returns early tomorrow if you want to see it. (Londonist cannot be held responsible for what happens if you take time off work to stalk new TV-actor crushes.)
Saturday is your last chance to see The Country Girl at Richmond Theatre (it's coming to the West End in October), Enron at the Noel Coward and The Great British Country Fete at the Bush Theatre. Into The Hoods closes at the Royal Festival Hall on Sunday.
And Sunday is your last chance to see the free music-filled odd-art exhibition Systematic from the Zabludowicz Collection at 176 Prince of Wales Road. Ossian gives it three stars. Have we missed anything? Let us know in the comments below.
