London 2012 Open Weekend is upon us and, as expected, is ram full of things to do between Friday and Sunday. Celebrating the 3 years to go milestone, events range from the athletic to the historic, artistic to exploratory. There’s far too much for us to feature it all so here are some of our top tips and a flavour of the variety on offer:

  • Extreme Aqua in Hayes Pool – try water polo, diving and kayak
  • AFRI-KOKOA Festival at Rich Mix, Bethnal Green – free family fun in the afternoon and an evening of music for adults
  • Free alternative cabaret, performance and hip hop in the Clore Ballroom, Southbank Centre
  • Try the flying trapeze and other circus skills at Circus for All in Woolwich
  • GLL leisure centres are opening up this weekend all over town with free taster sessions and activities
  • As is Kings Place – go explore the wonderful new building and enjoy a whole range of musical events
  • Discover 700 years of local history at Bow Church
  • Take a topical Stratford Regeneration Walking Tour
  • Or feed your face with a Taste of Sichuan in Chalton Street, NW1
  • And don’t forget the mega 5 borough domino rally on Sunday. We’ll have a steward’s eye view of that one.

There’s so much more to do. Check the links for times and charges where applicable. Browse all UK events at the London 2012 website and please, if you get up to something, do share – comment, email us, take pictures and put them in the Londonist Flickrpool. Help us get a picture of London 2012 Open Weekend across the city.
