In Pictures: The Snow

So London’s transport systems ground to a sadly predictable halt whilst the anticipated hysteria arrived on schedule. But what of the snow itself? It’s been several years since central London experienced a snowfall of more than a casual couple of inches, so we’ve been getting a good eyeful of the capital’s new unorthodox coating before it disappears for another few years. This is just a small selection of the many shots of an unfamiliar London that have been appearing online throughout the day.

Great photos, all. Though I think the last is the iconic one.

woo – our ‘snowmen of st john’s’ made it in (thanks Dave)! I’m pleased to report that our fun ended up doing some good as many of the passers-by who came over to see our snowfamily left money in Snowdaddy’s coffee cup which we’ll be passing on to Shelter. I love how the snow brought the people of London together – it was amazing to see people who would normally ignore eachother having a chat + a laugh over the snow or pelting each other with snowballs! I know it cost us, but surely it’s all worth it if the result is a big smile on the face of millions in these otherwise pretty low times? (I think) I’m more productive as a result!
