A short hike up Brixton Hill, the White Horse is, nevertheless, far enough away from Brixton's centre to be less crowded than certain other local pubs. It's also one of the oldest, dating back to the 18th century when it would provide stabling for those travelling this old Roman road.
A spacious interior with colourful furniture and almost-carnival decoration, this is a fun, laid-back place to spend an evening. Things get more raucous at the weekend, with DJ sets and 3am opening. You've also got a small beer yard out the back, and a patio area fronting Brixton Hill, for those who don't mind particulates with their pint.
