Part of our Best Pubs in London microsite. See if we've included your local.
One of two outposts of the Antic chain in the area (the other being the nearby Sun of Camberwell), the Tiger seems a bit less, well, Anticy than its siblings. Sure, the bedroom lamp shades, taxidermy and cast-off furniture are present and correct, but the place feels altogether more like a 'normal' good pub. If you know the chain, you'll know what we mean.
That said, you'll find the same reasonable selection of ales and well-nourished street food menu you can expect at any of these places, including the favourite sausage rolls on the counter. A small beer garden occupies a between-buildings space that, would otherwise smell of piss and fear, and we particularly like the between-areas screen built from book shelves. Easily the best pub named after a predatory carnivore in Camberwell. Also, check out the super-late opening on Friday/Saturday.
