Well, this is about as striking and modern as a Fuller's pub gets. Opened right at the start of 2016, the Sail Loft is all sharp, modern interiors, mixing up the pines and the blues. Nauticalia everywhere. It's hard to build a soul and presence into what is essentially a big glass box, but the place is surprisingly warm and welcoming. The staff are certainly friendly, checking in that we're OK every now and then.
This place is very much geared up for eating, with a dedicated dining room upstairs (great views of the dull bit of the Isle of Dogs) and downstairs a general ambience of 'you should be eating'. That said, we were very happy just sitting around with a pint of Pride, ignoring the menus.
A sizeable riverside outdoor area holds much promise for the summer. We're a few minutes away from the tourist centre here, so the place could be a good bet for a riverside seat away from the crowds. Drinks are predictably Fuller's, with no surprises.
