It's only a block away, but the Queen's Arms is on a different planet to the constant bustle of Exhibition Road. Set in a quiet cobbled mews among the stuccoed villas of Kensington, it's a picture-postcard idyll of a relaxing urban pub. We'd hazard a guess that it's featured in many a TV and film set. The main entrance is also a joy, with heavy curving doors that just feel right. Inside, the place is tastefully decorated with dark woods and clean white walls.
The bar holds seven or eight ales on draught, with a particular nod to Cornwall on our most recent visit. Bloody Marys seem to be something of a house special — we saw three under preparation during our stay. Be sure to listen in on neighbouring conversations. This is the pub of choice for Imperial College's physics department, so you might just overhear something of cosmic importance.
