One of many Young's pubs in the area, the Old Ship at first seems like any other pub, but reveals its treasures slowly. For winter, there are a couple of real fire places around which to snuggle. For the summer, a small beer garden — more of a yard, really — offers the al fresco thing. Food and drink are both typical Young's — enjoyable and good value, while not outstanding. On the whole, this place feels more down-to-earth than many of the other central Richmond drinking options. A pub for all seasons.
The upstairs room provides further options, and puts on a mean quiz on a Wednesday evening.
