BIG EGG HUNT: 100 egg sculptures decorated by the likes of Mr Doodle, Jimmy Choo, Anya Hindmarch and Fortnum & Mason are scattered around central London for the Big Egg Hunt, almost a month before Easter. You'll probably need that long to track them all down. FREE, 24 March-27 April

PICASSO: The British Museum focuses on the lesser-known aspect of artist Pablo Picasso's career — his prints — in an exhibition which closes this weekend. He created over 2,400 of them in all, with several on display here dating from the early 1900s through to the 1930s. Until 30 March

SADDEST SHOW ON EARTH: On at Waterloo Vaults until Sunday, The Saddest Show on Earth features work from acclaimed contemporary artist and conservationist, Sophie Green. The exhibition explores themes such as consumerism, exploitation and environmental despair through hyper-realistic paintings, forcing viewers to reflect on our relationship with nature and wildlife. FREE, until 30 March

CULTURAL REFORESTING: How can we renew our relationship with nature? That's the question being asked at the new Cultural Reforesting exhibition at Orleans House Gallery. Several works are on display, each examining a different aspect of the ecological crisis. FREE, 27 March-31 August

SPLASH!: Dive into a history of swimming at the Design Museum's latest exhibition, Splash! A Century of Swimming and Style. It dips into three settings: the pool, the lido and nature, looking at how design influences our experience of swimming in each, and displaying objects including Pamela Anderson's Baywatch swimsuit. 28 March-17 August

TEXTILES EXHIBITION: The Fashion and Textile Museum in Bermondsey opens Textiles: The Art of Mankind, which traces human creativity from pre-history through to the digital age, via the medium of textiles. Some of the objects have never been seen in the UK before — hailing from places including Panama and Sardinia. 28 March-7 September

CBEEBIES RAINBOW ADVENTURE: Returning to Westfield London, CBeebies Rainbow Adventure is a performer-led journey through rooms like Duggee's Clubhouse, JoJo & Gran Gran's cosy kitchen, Mr Tumble's colourful living room and Bluey's bedroom. The cheerful Rainbow Gardener leads the way, with dancing, singing and colourful activities. From 28 March

KEW THE RUN: Kew the Run is a 10K or half marathon route finishing up in Kew Gardens. The 10K course (Saturday) is entirely contained within the gardens, while the half marathon (Sunday) starts and ends in the gardens, meandering down to Ham House in Richmond and back. 29-30 March

GOLD BUNNY HUNT: The Easter bunny comes to south-west London early — well, several bunnies actually — as the Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt returns to the grounds of Hampton Court Palace. Seek out the statues and look on their red ribbons for their names. The reward is a small chocolate treat. 29 March-21 April

PIRATES: Ahoy, mateys! The National Maritime Museum in Greenwich opens an exhibition all about pirates on Saturday, challenging their depiction as swashbuckling adventurers in search of buried booty. Real-life pirates feature, as well as characters from books, TV and film. Orlando Bloom's Pirates of the Caribbean costume is among the objects on show. 29 March-4 January

12th Knot is the venue for a family disco

CHOCOLATE MARKET: Toklas Bakery near Temple is the venue for a chocolate market, hosted by chocolate expert and tour guide Jennifer Earle. Focus is on ethical and sustainable supply chains, with chocolatiers from London, Cornwall, Manchester, Bristol and Cambridgeshire taking part, selling all manner of  bars, bonbons and baked goods. FREE entry, 10am-sell out

SOHO BLACK HISTORY: The Black History Walks team leads a tour focusing on Soho's secret black history. Hear about African/Caribbean history between Soho Square and Russell Square, including Black women broadcasters, equality in the military and Black entrepreneurs. 10am-12pm

MODEL RAILWAY SHOW: Chug down to south London for the Beckenham and West Wickham Vintage Model Railway Show. Various layouts will be on display, and specialist traders will be present, selling what you need to build on your own home layouts. 10am-4.30pm

THYLACINE DIARIES: Ever heard of the thylacine, also known as the Tasmanian tiger? The Grant Museum of Zoology at UCL holds a family-friendly event where you can learn all about the extinct species, including what it looked like, and what caused it to become extinct. FREE, 11am-2pm

WOMEN WRITING CRIME: The British Library hosts Deadly: the festival of women writing crime, celebrating contemporary crime fiction by women. Throughout the day, hear from a range of authors, some of whom are introducing their latest work, including Sophie Hannah, Ann Cleeves, Hallie Rubenhold, Busayo Matuluko and Mary Watson. 11am-8.30pm

FAMILY DISCO: Celebrate Mother’s Day with with a Mini Disco at 12th Knot, the riverside rooftop bar and terrace at Sea Container on South Bank. Sharky & George host a playful, high-energy kids disco, with a drink for adults and snack for kids included in the ticket price. 1pm-3pm

CANDLELIGHT CONCERT: Pianist and composer OKIEM is joined by The Infinity Orchestra for a candlelit concert at Union Chapel in Islington. They perform pieces from his albums The Golden Circle and Xiro, as well as his newest album Xen. Doors 6.30pm

GK BARRY LIVE: The Teenage Cancer Trust's series of fundraising gigs at the Royal Albert Hall comes to a close with an evening with TV presenter GK Barry. She's joined on stage by James and Clair from reality show At Home With The Buckleys, and Melvin Odoom and Reverend Richard Coles, who were with her in the I'm A Celebrity camp. 7.15pm

SPACE COWBOY: Jamiroquai tribute act Space Cowboy pitches up at Fairfield Halls in Croydon for an evening dedicated to the jazz and funk band, with live performances of tunes including Cosmic Girl, Canned Heat and Virtual Insanity. 7.30pm

DRAG CABARET: Every Saturday night, Queen of Hoxton hosts Kiki Drag Cabaret, bringing together talented drag stars from London and beyond, hosted by Ms Ginger Phlappage. Expect comedy, live music, lip syncing and death drops. 7.30pm

ROLLING STONES: Film festival Screen Cuba, which showcases Cuban-set and Cuban-made films, comes to a close tonight. At the Garden Cinema in Holborn, catch a screening of A Night With The Rolling Stones, about one woman's decision on the eve of the group's 2016 concert in Havana. 8pm

MYSTERY MOVIE MARATHON: Spend the night at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square, as it holds an all-nighter mystery movie marathon with no clues given as to the five films which'll be shown back-to-back throughout the night. The venue currently faces an uncertain future, so all support is very welcome. 11pm-9am. Alternatively, the PCC also holds a Lord of the Rings all-nighter tonight, from 9pm.

CLOCKS CHANGE: A reminder that the clocks go forward an hour in the early hours of 30 March (which also happens to be Mother's Day). The bad news is that we lose an hour, but the good news is that it heralds the start of lighter, brighter days.

MOTHER'S DAY: A reminder to pick up a card and some flowers and chocolates. Perhaps treat her to afternoon tea too, eh?

COLOUR PAINTING: This week's free Sunday Session at the Garden Museum is a colour painting workshop. Using the John Morley exhibition as a starting point, the family-friendly event is a chance to create your own still-life masterpiece. FREE, 11am-12.30pm

PECKHAM SALVAGE YARD: Peckham Salvage Yard returns to Copeland Park and the Bussey Building, with traders selling vintage furniture, reclaimed industrial fixtures, unique lighting, salvaged electricals, quirky homewares, curiosities and unexpected oddities. 11am-5pm

SEX AND THE STAGE: As part of the Literary Footprints festival, tour guide Laura Agustín leads a walk focusing on London's sex industry and the stage in the 18th century. Begin at Holborn station and hear about a time when all actresses were assumed to be prostitutes and theatres a place for clients to find them. Also learn about links between corrupt government officials and criminals. 1pm-3.30pm

ROAST RIFF: Haggerston's Berber & Q restaurant is celebrating 10 years in the biz with a Sunday Lunch collaboration series. It kicks off today, with special guest Jake Norman whipping up a three-course feast, including mezze, a main, and a sharing dessert. Sittings available for two to 12 people. From 1.30pm

GOODTIME JAZZ: Two hours of toe-tapping jazz, blues and swing occupies the foyer of Ilford's Kenneth More Theatre, as Pete's Goodtime Jazz Band play hits by Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Benny Goodman and other greats. 2pm-4pm

THE EMPATHY FIX: Join writer and researcher Keetie Roelen for a discussion on poverty and social policy as featured in her book, The Empathy Fix, at Conway Hall. Roelen provides insights into the systemic nature of poverty and offers new approaches for tackling it effectively. 3pm-4.30pm

CRAFT AND CHILL: Colour expert and Londonist contributor Momtaz Begum-Hossain runs one of her regular crafting afternoons for adults at Well Bean Co Cafe in the Royal Docks. All art and crafts materials are provided, no artistic experience is necessary, and the session runs on a pay-what-you-can basis, with a different project each month — this time, it's a woolly textiles themed session. 4pm
