What's the difference between a Central line train and a Victoria line train? Most of us don't pay much attention, but Brian Vermeer has taken a closer look.
Using Adobe Illustrator, he's drawn simplified profiles of many of the driver's cabs used across the Transport for London network. He's also thrown in Tramlink, Overground, DLR and the Elizabeth line trains for good, geeky measure.
You'll note that not all the tube lines are covered. Circle, District and Hammersmith & City lines use similar stock to the Met line, with identical cabs. Northern line trains are very similar to the Jubilee stock, while Waterloo & City trains match up with Central. The Piccadilly line cabs, meanwhile, are closest to those of the Bakerloo. (See Wikipedia for full details on each line's stock.)
Brian shared his designs on the Londonist Roundel Ramblings Facebook group, where there was an immediate clamour for him to put the images onto t-shirts, mugs and other items. He's since obliged — all of the designs are now available on various merchandise.
Brian is also the man behind our animation What The Tube Stations Should Be Called.
