Commuters who use South Western Railway are being warned to expect disruption from Friday-Monday (30 August-2 September) due to planned strike action.

The RMT Union has instructed its guards and drivers on South Western Railway not to work between 00.01 on Friday and 23.59 on Monday, meaning disruption to services is expected all weekend, as well as two working days.

The full extent of cancellations and alterations to services isn't yet known, but South Western Railway says it will be running just over half of its normal timetabled service, with rail replacement services also available. A day-by-day guide to of what's expected to run is available on the South Western Railway website, but is liable to change at short notice.

The industrial action is due to a dispute over the roles of guards on trains.
