Spotted Any Of These Frozen In Time Buses?
Seen one of these around? Here's an Onward ad heading through Camberwell. Image: Londonist

The fantastical (and let's be honest, middling) Disney Pixar film, Onward, was released in UK cinemas on 6 March 2020. Four months later, some London buses are still proclaiming it's 'in cinemas now'. The pandemic has created a 'frozen in time' fleet of buses... and Disney has got serious bang for its buck.

Bus advertising is considered a great way for brands to advertise; buses do the rounds on London's streets between 10 and 18 hours a day, and are "visually unavoidable". The Onward ads appeared in early 2020, and have been up around five months now — about five times longer than they'd usually be. Lockdown laws meant that there was nothing to plaster over the ad once it'd had its allotted time.

London's cinemas reopen from 4 July, but it's unlikely any will be screening Onward, which has been available on DVD and Amazon Prime since June (and to the chagrin of Disney + subscribers, not there). Maybe there'll be a new cinema bus ad on the block soon.
