Photos have been released of the new Piccadilly line trains being assembled at a factory in Yorkshire.
To mark the opening of the Goole Train Manufacturing Facility, producer Siemens has shared snaps of the shiny new carriages under construction at the Goole Rail Village, the extension of which was opened this week.

80% of the new Piccadilly line trains will be assembled at the facility, along with all of Siemens’ future UK train orders. Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, who attended the official opening, said:
This train manufacturing facility in Goole is a fantastic example of the expertise we don’t have and how investment in London benefits the whole country. This factory, where the new state-of-the-art Piccadilly line trains will be built, will create up to 900 direct jobs and support another 1,700 in the supply chain.

Now, about those new trains. TfL looks set to roll them out on the network from 2025, resulting in improved accessibility including wider doors and walk-through carriages; air conditioning; and a 10% increase in capacity compared to current Piccadilly line stock (which has been around since 1973).

In the mean time, we'll have to make do with these photos of what's to come. BBC transport correspondent Tom Edwards has shared a look inside the carriages too:
