A bespoke Hornby train set is the star of a new LNER family lounge at King's Cross station.
Featuring a 00 gauge Azuma and a diddy Hogsmeade station, the miniature setup will surely delight kids and their parents, as they wait for their life-sized train (and likely prompt child-free adults to gaze longingly at the miniature track from outside).
There’s a new model railway in London King’s Cross station! @LNER’s Family Lounge (by ticket office) opens tmrw, complete with working 00 gauge layout, play area, heritage display & seating. And the team asked me to join Holly (5) & Miles (10) to test it. I am 41½ years old: pic.twitter.com/mUF6FsONlC

The lounge, which is free for families to use, also has an LNER 'heritage wall' and a small play area, which roundly beats sitting outside Little Waitrose and counting the pigeons.
King's Cross, by the way, is home to a Model Railway Club, so if this whole shrunk-down train racket is your thing, call in at one of their club nights and fill your boots.
