Acton Central has a glorious new roundel.

We're delighted to see the resumption of an arts programme that's already beautified many Overground stations. Acton Central on the Mildmay line is the latest to gain a mosaic roundel, created by Maud Milton and the Artyface group. The scheme runs in cahoots with Arriva Rail London, which runs trains across the Overground network.

The colourful emblem combines a standard Overground roundel with the blue hue of the Mildmay line. But look closer and you'll notice that the roundel comprises hundreds of tesserae, some carrying messages or images from the local area.

This is the 12th station to gain one of these roundels. Most of the others are in the northern sections of the Overground network, up around the Walthamstows, Chingfords and Leytons of this world.

As with the others, the Acton Central roundel was crafted by volunteers from the local community, with Artyface jockeying things along. Charity City Harvest hosted the workshop at their local headquarters.

It's the first mosaic roundel to be installed in five years. We hope many more will follow.
