Fancy doing something a bit special this leap day?

A race up one of the most iconic (and controversial) landmarks in the City is sure to make your extra 24 hours memorable. On Saturday 29 February, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's (GOSH) Charity invites you to climb up all 896 steps of 20 Fenchurch Street — otherwise known as the Walkie Talkie.

Once you get to the top, you're rewarded for your blood, sweat, and (possibly) tears with a medal and a celebratory drink. Also there's the knowledge that your efforts will help GOSH continue their pioneering research, provide cutting-edge equipment, and fund state-of-the-art facilities — all to support seriously ill children from across the UK.

At 525 feet high, the summit of the skyscraper offers one of the best views of the city (some might say that's partly because it doesn't include the building you're standing in, but that's for another article.) Normally you'd reach the Sky Garden via the lift, but GOSH Charity wants you to really work those glutes during your ascent, so  stairs it is.

Reckon you're up to it? Sign up for the Walkie Talkie Tower Climb by 31 January for 50% off your registration fee. That gives you nearly a month to collect sponsors — all participants should attempt to raise £250 in sponsorship — in aid of this cracking cause.
