Fascinating New Exhibition Reveals The Lesser-Known Works Of Sir Christopher Wren

This is a sponsored article on behalf of St Paul's Cathedral.

This year marks 300 years since the death of Sir Christopher Wren, architect of St Paul's Cathedral.

The domed building of worship — perhaps the most iconic feature of the London skyline — is Wren's most famous work, but it is by no means his only legacy. He was a prolific polymath, and a new exhibition at St Paul's showcases some of his lesser-known achievements.

In addition to overseeing the construction of almost 100 buildings, Wren worked in mathematics, astronomy and physiology too, and Sir Christopher Wren: The Quest for Knowledge offers an insight into his early life and career. It explores Wren's lifelong passion and quest for knowledge across the spheres of maths, science and architecture, using a wealth of material from St Paul's Cathedral's archives.

Drawings, photographs and remarkable historical objects personal to Wren himself are on show, and naturally, the design and construction of St Paul's Cathedral features in the exhibition too, making it fascinating for anyone interested in history and architecture, or who wants to learn a bit more about Wren beyond his world-famous magnum opus.

Sir Christopher Wren: The Quest for Knowledge is part of a whole series of events, talks and activities going on at St Paul's Cathedral throughout 2023 to commemorate Wren 300. Keep an eye on the website for further details, including family activities, and special late-night openings.

Sir Christopher Wren: The Quest for Knowledge opens in the Crypt at St Paul's Cathedral on 27 April 2023. It's included in the sightseeing admission price.
