Thousands are expected to March through central London this Saturday (18 January), in solidarity with all oppressed women around the world.
The London's Women's March will assemble at the main entrance of Waterloo at 12pm, before heading towards Westminster from 1pm.
Marchers will convene at the Old Palace Yard outside the Houses of Parliament, to listen to speakers including Sabby Dhalu, co-convenor of Stand Up To Racism and the joint secretary of Unite Against Fascism; Camille Kumar, the new director from Abortion Support Network; and award-winning campaigner Patsy Stevenson.
Speeches are expected to go on until around 4pm.
Say the event organisers: "Participants are encouraged to bring their voices, energy and support as the community comes together to stand in solidarity with women worldwide!" The march is inclusive of trans and non-binary participants and has been designed to be as accessible as possible. Any allies of women are welcome to join in.
London's march is one of 21 set to take place across the UK at the weekend, in the light of violence against women and girls in the UK increasing by 37% since 2018 — a national emergency, no less. "With Donald Trump set to return as US president in January 2025 and Nigel Farage picking up the anti-abortion mantle here in the UK, it's time to make our voices heard," say the organisers. "We are angry and you should be too."
London's Women's March starts at Waterloo station entrance, Saturday 18 January 2025, from 12pm
