LOUGHBOROUGH JUNCTION: "Thank God for the Minet family" is what Sir John Betjeman apparently said when he saw the Minet Estate in 1978. Visit the area around Loughborough Junction, including Myatt's Fields Park, on this guided walk, and find out about its history and design. ASTRONOMY: The latest of Gresham College's special anniversary lectures focuses on how astronomy has changed in the 500 years since Thomas Gresham's birth. Professor of Astronomy Joseph Silk covers the planets and stars that have been discovered since the telescope was invented in 1608, as well as the cosmic mysteries that remain unsolved. WOMEN'S DAY: Ahead of International Women's Day on Friday, the V&A's lunchtime lecture focuses on gender performances transformation. Dressmaker Sonja Harms — who specialises in making clothes for transvestites — discusses elements of her work, and what she's learned from some of the actors, singers and dancers she's worked with. RONNIE SCOTT'S ALL STARS: This year marks 60 years since legendary Soho venue Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club opened. To celebrate, the house band Ronnie Scott's All Stars are on tour, telling the history of the venue through rare images, archive footage, and some of the classic tracks that have been played at the venue. LOVERS & ADDICTS: Storytelling performers Crick Crack Club mix their usual expertise with the world of tarot for new show Lovers & Addicts. Sarah Liisa Wilkinson, Clare Murphy, Daniel Morden & TUUP lay bare the femme fatales, the star-crossed lovers, vampires, addicts, bed-post notchers, narcissists and mirror gazers. Our resident tube fancier dishes out daily thoughts on the London Underground.

The Victoria line was originally to be called the Viking line, as it connected VIctoria and KING’s Cross. This would also have had historical resonance, given that Tottenham Hale tube is close to the River Lea — the agreed boundary between the lands of King Alfred and his Viking foes. You might like to have some smutty fun with this idea. For example, the Waterloo and City connects Waterloo and bANK. And, lest we forget, the Piccadilly line unites Cockfosters and Arsenal.
