Superbloom: Millions Of Colourful Flowers To Be Planted In Tower Of London Moat

A huge wildflower meadow is popping up in the Tower of London moat in 2022, and tickets to view it are now on sale.

Superbloom is being planted to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, which is officially being celebrated 2-5 June 2022. The flowers will be on show from July-September, with the display changing naturally through this period as different species of flower enter their prime.

20 million seeds will be sown in moat surrounding the Tower, which was also the location for the famous Tower of London poppies in 2014, and the flames in 2018. Both of those first world war memorials turned out to be extremely popular, with people queuing for hours to view the installations.

It's no surprise then, that the team behind Superbloom are leaving nothing to chance, by planning several months in advance. No ice rink was installed in the moat for Christmas 2021, so that the soil is in the best condition possible for planting to begin in spring, and all visits to see Superbloom will be ticketed.

There are three ticket options for Superbloom:

  • Public Viewing Path tickets which are free, and allow you to view the display from public paths at Tower Hill.
  • Superbloom Only tickets, which grant you access to the moat to wander along paths weaving among the flowers (from £10 adult/£5 child).
  • Superbloom + Tower of London, which allows you access to the moat, and also to visit the Tower of London itself (from £35 adult/£17.50 child).

We suspect this will be very popular, so plan ahead if you want to see it.

There's also going to be a slide from the walls surrounding the moat down into the moat itself.

Superbloom at the Tower of London takes place 1 June-18 September 2022. Tickets are on sale now, and are likely to sell out.
