As the Tory government continues to go off its ruddy rocker, while dragging us all down with it and snubbing a general election, calls for people to 'take to the streets' are becoming increasingly full-throated.
In fact, people WILL take to the streets of London on Saturday 22 October — albeit in a call for the UK to rejoin the EU.
Organised by Peter Corr, an ex-army HGV driver, and Richard Wilson, Vice Chair of European Movement, the National Rejoin March will assemble in Hyde Park at noon, before protestors peacefully make their way to Parliament Square, where a rally will be held from 3pm.
Included on the rally line-up is Lib Dem Baroness Sarah Ann Ludford, activist Femi Oluwole (who's done some excellent doorstepping of pro-Brexit politicians lately), and Steve Bray, now a minor celeb, thanks to his tenacious protesting, and penchant for blasting out the Benny Hill theme at opportune moments.
According to the National Rejoin March (and to be fair the Office of Budget Responsibility), leaving the EU is costing the UK up to £30 billion a year — and that's when Liz Truss isn't tinkering with the economy.
With all of this week's shit-showery from the government — and now murmurings of the return of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named — you fancy that protestors will not just be calling for the UK to rejoin the EU, but for an immediate general election too.
Anyone is welcome on the march, which aims to be "family friendly, welcoming and positive".
