See These Iconic Marilyn Monroe Dresses In A London Hotel... Before They're Auctioned Off

Dresses worn by Marilyn Monroe in iconic movies including Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Some Like It Hot are currently on display in London.

The costumes are on display in the windows of the The May Fair until 21 October, ahead of being auctioned off by Julien’s Auctions in California.

The four dresses were worn by Monroe in cruise ship caper Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953); western musical River of No Return (1954), Irving's Berlin's There’s No Business Like Show Business (1955), and the stone cold classic Billy Wilder comedy Some Like It Hot (1959).

To accompany the mini fashion exhibition, the hotel is screening each of the films across September and October.

A special range of cocktails has been concocted at the hotel's bar, and is available as part of screening packages. They're named after Monroe's characters in the four films: Kay Weston; Sugar Kane; Victoria Hoffman; and Lorelei Lee (think twice about Googling, turns out she's also a porn actor).

This sparkling number was worn in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (we assume they've checked it's not Jane Russell's)

Tickets for screenings cost £20-£49 and can be bought from Eventbrite
