Climb One Of London's Most Iconic Landmarks And Raise Money For A Brilliant Cause

This is a sponsored article on behalf of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Let's see if this guy's still smiling when he reaches floor 35...

Love it or loathe it, there's no denying that the Walkie Talkie (aka 20 Fenchurch Street) is one of the capital's most iconic skyscrapers. At 525 feet tall, the quirky structure offers some of the best views of London from its summit — the Sky Garden. Normally, we recommend reaching this lush urban oasis by lift but, this March, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSH) has other ideas.

The charity is challenging Londoners to sprint up all 36 floors and 828 steps of the Walkie Talkie to help support the seriously ill children from across the UK who are treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Every runner gets a rather fetching t-shirt

At the finish line, all participants are rewarded with a medal, a celebratory tipple and a 360 panorama of the city to admire. But by far the best bit about taking part is the knowledge that your efforts are supporting amazing work of GOSH Charity, helping the 619 seriously ill children who come to the hospital every day.

And, fear not, you can take the lift back down.

Post-race celebrations in the Sky Garden

Up for the challenge? The climb costs £25 to enter, which covers the expenses of putting on the event, and participants are asked to raise at least £250 in sponsorship. These funds go towards ground-breaking research, advanced medical equipment, the rebuilding and refurbishment of hospital facilities, as well as support services for young patients and their families.

Great Ormond Street Hospital's Walkie Talkie Tower Climb takes place on Saturday 2 March, with the first wave of runners beginning their ascent at 8am. Click here to sign up.
