Lederhosen at the ready... London Oktoberfest is back!
This beer-soaked celebration promises an authentic Bavarian experience — we're talking delicious German food, traditional oompah tunes, and frothy brews served by the stein. Since its inception in 2011, London Oktoberfest has ballooned in popularity, welcoming over 10,000 revellers each year. So if you want to be part of the fun, we recommend getting your tickets sharpish.
But first, a sneak peek at what you've got to look forward to...
London Oktoberfest first takes over St Paul's Green in Hammersmith, 17-19 October, before moving to Ealing's Walpole Park, 25-26 October. The parties play out inside a giant tent, festooned with blue and white decor (the colours of the Bavarian flag, natch) and long, bierkeller-style tables and benches.
Here, servers kitted out in dirndl and lederhosen will serve up authentic Bavarian beer — crafted especially for Oktoberfest in a small brewery close to Nuremberg — as you bop along to live music. To line your stomach, there's brezel (pretzels), bratwurst and schnitzel, with veggie and vegan alternatives available. And if you do fancy quaffing something other than beer, cider, wine and soft drinks are available, alongside German digestif Underberg.
If you really fancy immersing yourself in the Bavarianness of it all, you can buy or rent dirndl — a traditional dress in German-speaking Alpine regions — or lederhosen at the event. There's even a souvenir shop onsite, so you can keep the spirit of Oktoberfest alive all year round.
Tickets to London Oktoberfest start at £10, with optional add-ons for reserved seating and pre-booked refreshments. Corporate packages are also available, if you fancy treating your team to a night of revelry, with groups of 8+ catered for. No matter which ticket you opt for, this is about as close to the original Munich celebrations you can get without crossing the North Sea. Prost!
