Walk past the famous red telephone box across from the Houses of Parliament, and there's a good chance it'll start ringing.
London's most-visited phone box, which stands at the northern edge of Parliament Square, is a bona fide tourist magnet — people often wait in turn to get the doubly iconic image of themselves with this quintessentially British design, backdropped by Big Ben.
Now, the number for the phone box has been shared on Twitter by Nick Walker, who's encouraging people to go old school, and give it a buzz:

This is the number for this phonebox on Parliament Square. There's normally a queue of tourists waiting to get a photograph with it, so give it a call sometime. Who knows who you might speak to. pic.twitter.com/1Asxpozx0V
And people are getting in on the action, too:
- "I just rang. Spoke to a tourist. Fantastic"
- "omg I just rang it and someone answered and I was so terrified I immediately hung up"
- "It's engaged"
Naturally, we had to give it a go too — it rang, and someone answered! Didn't really understand what was going on, but anyway, it works!
Why not reignite the long-lost art of making a phone call — and make a tourist's day, by personally welcoming them to our great city.
That number again: 020 7930 1397
