Does it count as a 'station pub' if it's not physically within the station? In this case, we'd say 'absolutely'. The Station House is in indeed an old station building, immediately adjacent to the somewhat misnamed Acton Central (Mildmay line), meaning it gets part of its footfall from returning commuters seeking a 'swift half' before heading home.

It's a pub of three halves. You'll reach the building through a sizeable front-garden, whose ample seating can be entirely covered in the event of rain. It can get busy out here at weekend, especially when they're showing the footy.

Inside, the downstairs room manages to be simultaneously cosy and modern. An off-putting sign on the bar shouts "TABLE SERVICE ONLY", but we asked anyway and were served without quibble. Nice pint of Kernal, one of numerous kegs (but no casks) on offer.

A third room upstairs offers slightly more formal dining space. The menu has a range of cuisines but specialises in pizza.
