How many pubs have a post box? Well, two that we know of. The excellent Sylvan Post in Forest Hill, and this more traditional pub on Horseferry Road.
(Don't pop your letters in, mind... it's not a working post box.)
The Barley Mow squats in a devilishly handsome 1930s building that simply begs to be stepped inside. The interior is not quite so charming, however. Perfectly amicable, in its burgundy-cum-mahogany hues, but nothing too memorable. Still, it's a relaxed place to sink a few beers, especially if you get one of the window seats up in the raised area.
The Barley Mow's chief attraction is the clientele. With the Home Office and Channel 4 just around the corner, this is a good place if you enjoy a spot of eavesdropping (not that we'd condone such behaviour). You might also pop round if you want to watch a bit of sport in pubby comfort — several screens show football most days. The beer is a mainstream offering, with Doom Bar, Adnams and the like. Meanwhile, a 60-seat function room can be hired for events.
