As the Post Office gives up the ghost piecemeal, we hope it'll have the common decency to sell off every single one of its properties, one by one, to a creative pub company (in this case Antic, but now sold to Portobello). No queues or overpriced stationary at this ex-PO — just excellent cask ale (five usually, from the likes of local brewers Brockwell and Brick), and the kind of kitsch 1960s decor that should be a bit much, but somehow hits the nail on the head.
Rest your tipple on Formica tables or old school desks at this playful pub, which more than hints at its former purpose, with stamps for wallpaper, and shiny post boxes marked 'Country' and 'London'. Lounge in the front room and devour a smoked duck and mango salad, or hunker out back in one of the former vaults and nurse a glass of local ale.
There's fun to be had too; board games, quiz night and the odd party tossed in for good measure. Anyone who doesn't enjoy this place should be shipped off to Siberia, express.
