The "Tap" empire, which began with the still-excellent Euston Tap, grows apace. This latest outpost inhabits a striking pavilion structure in Aldgate Square. In a similar vein to its sister pubs, the Aldgate Tap leads on a broad offering of craft beers, with at least 16 lines (14 keg and 2 cask at time of writing).
The limited space of the pavilion means there's no kitchen, though the usual bar snacks are available. Seating is on high stools, and there's plenty of room to spill outdoors if the weather allows — or even if it doesn't allow, as in our picture of a drizzly but tasty half pint.
