Prepare to howl with laughter/wet your pants with terror — hit BBC comedy-horror Inside No. 9 is coming to the West End stage.

Stage/Fright is a new Inside No. 9 tale written especially for the stage by the TV show's co-creators Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith — and it lands at Wyndham's Theatre for a 12-week run, starting 18 January 2025.

For anyone not familiar with Inside No. 9, it's a black comedy from the League of Gentlemen duo, with self-contained episodes in which things are rarely as they seem, and the mood skips nonchalantly from knockabout farce to psychological drama to full on horror. The Guardian recently called it "the best comedy the UK has ever created" — and even if that's maybe a slight exaggeration, we still expect tickets for Stage/Fright to vanish faster than a particularly athletic ghost.

On putting Inside No. 9 on the stage, Pemberton and Shearsmith say:

We've been asked about doing a live show ever since the series first started on the BBC, probably because each episode is like a mini-play. There are small casts and single locations, and we were definitely inspired by our work in theatre when writing the stories for TV. There'll be something old, something new, something butchered and something… BOO!

2024 marks 10 years since Inside No. 9 first appeared on TV screens — and will also see the ninth and final series of the show, which airs on the BBC from today (8 May 2024).
