Clothing retailer Primark has announced it has followed in the footsteps of many of the UK's shops, shutting the doors of all its UK stores until further notice.
The retailer revealed the news on Twitter this afternoon, citing the health and welfare of employees amid the coronavirus pandemic as the reason behind its decision.
Although Primark was not forced to close as part of the government's sweeping nationwide closures on Friday, many big department stores including Selfridges, John Lewis and Harrods have already made the decision to close, and it seemed likely that Primark would follow suit.
With the health and welfare of our employees and customers at the front of our minds we have made the decision to close our stores in the UK, until further notice. A huge thanks to all our employees, customers, suppliers and partners for their continued support 💙 pic.twitter.com/AynpV8KiQi
