Ah, tis truly a golden era of politcs.
You may remember our coverage of the inflatable Trump Baby, which briefly took to the skies above Parliament Square back in July.
You may also remember that we covered news of a copycat crowdfunding campaign to launch a Sadiq Khan baby from the same spot. (Say what you like about right-wingers, but they have some truly original ideas.)
With over £58k of funding behind it, the Sadiq Baby has bizarrely morphed into a Sadiq in a bikini. (This is apparently a dig at Khan's efforts to ban sexist adverts on London's public transport — so we can presume that those behind this project are comfortable making light of body shaming.)
The inflatable Sadiq is billed to fly from roughly the same spot at Trump baby, on Saturday 1 September from 9.30am-11.30am.
The Mayor's Office told Londonist:
The City Hall 'city operations' team has spoken with the organisers of this balloon and given permission for them to use Parliament Square Garden. As always, City Hall has been working in very close coordination with the Metropolitan Police and other key agencies to ensure this protest is able to be carried out in a safe and secure way.
This was not a decision for the Mayor, it was a decision made by the city operations team at the Greater London Authority, as is usual procedure and as with the rally held in Parliament Square earlier this year.
The city operations team have the power to approve use of the Square as long as a number of criteria are met.
We do, however, already know Khan's thoughts on a blimp of himself. When recently asked with dog whistle sliminess by everyone's favourite cup of morning bile, Piers Morgan, whether Khan would green-light a balloon of himself as a pig [Khan is a Muslim], the mayor replied: "If it's peaceful and safe, yes. It's not for me to be the censor. It's not for me to decide what's in good taste or bad taste."

Related events for the Giant Sadiq Khan Balloon to fly over London! Facebook group includes Support Tommy [Robinson] at the Old Bailey, and a counter protest against anti-racism protesters. Which says a lot about some of the lovely people who'll be keeping you company, should you attend the balloon's launch.
