House of Lewisham is launching a brand new cookbook inspired by south-east London.
The self-described 'hyper local online department store' collaborated with the local community to create a book of recipes that reflects the people and the cultures that make the borough so special. The fruits of their labour? The Lewisham Cookbook — a beautifully-illustrated tome crammed with mouthwatering, diverse and totally do-able dishes.
As well as comforting fare like chicken and leek pie or gin and tonic lemon drizzle, you can expect national Nigerian dishes, Yom Kippur specialities and recipes shared by the local Romani community. Recreate them at home, and after lockdown you can visit the local businesses that contributed dishes to the book.
The Lewisham Cookbook is the follow-up to The Catford Cookbook, which follows a similar format but is focussed on a much narrower area of the borough. Each book helps fund local causes — a proportion of all sales from the Lewisham iteration will be split between Lewisham Food Bank and The Refugee Cafe.
