This Friday (7 June) is National Fish & Chip Day, and while we're all for celebrating the delicious dish, there's always that one person who takes it too far.
In this case, it's Sarson's Vinegar — they've come up with the 'Vin & Tonic' cocktail for the occasion. Ingredients including gin, dry vermouth, lemon juice, sugar, dill and of course Sarson's vinegar are blended to create the tipple which — for obvious reasons, we think — is limited edition.
For cod's sake, whose idea was that? We jest of course — shrub-based cocktails (meaning those made from a concentrated syrup of sugar, fruit and vinegar) are becoming increasingly popular, and the Vin & Tonic has been designed to pair perfectly with your Friday fish supper.
If you're tempted to try it, the plaice you're looking for is Poppie's Fish & Chips. The Soho and Spitalfields branches are giving away a total of 100 of the cocktails for free, on Friday only.
