Selfridges Now Has An Adult-Sized Slide In Its Window

A new cafe has opened in Selfridges, featuring an adult-sized slide for customers to use.

New Ground is an ethical coffee shop, which trains and employs ex-offenders with a goal of reducing re-offending rates. Its ethics also extend to sustainability, with hot drinks served in recyclable cups, and any recycled in store will be turned into Selfridges paper shopping bags.

The menu consists of 10 different coffees made from an exclusive Selfridges blend, and an optional shot of CBD oil. Tea and hot chocolate are also available, and the pre-work crowd are catered for with breakfast pastries.

That's all well and good for the serious adults among us, but what about the rest of us? We're mainly here for the bright yellow slide. Climb the spiral metal staircase before whizzing back down to earth. You'll need to let go of your inhibitions though — the slide is located next to floor to ceiling windows at the corner of Oxford Street and Duke Street, meaning all manner of passing traffic can peer in and see you.

New Ground is open at The Corner Shop on the ground floor of Selfridges, until 9 February 2020. It opens at 7.30am Monday-Friday, and during normal store opening hours at the weekend.
