Guess What The Most Popular Name Is For Takeaway Shops In London...

Best Kebab in Old Street

For every original takeaway joint name in London (we love you Chickpizz; you too Abrakebabra) there are countless others which show an utter dearth of creativity. Sure, 'Best Kebab' is a safe bet, but you couldn't come up with anything more individual?

This begs the question: what's the most common takeaway name in London? Wonder no more:

  1. Charcoal Grill
  2. Morley’s
  3. Best Kebab
  4. Perfect Fried Chicken
  5. Munchies
  6. Favourite Chicken and Ribs
  7. Tops Pizza
  8. Chicken Express
  9. The Grill
  10. Sam’s Chicken

Now, in our opinion, Charcoal Grill is a particularly poor choice of name for any SEO-inclined takeaway business. Not only are you competing against plenty of other Charcoal Grill takeaways, you're also competing with actual charcoal grills.

This list comes with a few caveats. Firstly, international mega-chains have been excluded, because looking at a list that reads 1. McDonalds 2. KFC 3. Burger King... is just dull. However some smaller chains have been left in, ones that are region specific, like Morley's (in south London) and Sam's (in north London). A happy compromise.

Thanks to Mercure Hotels for putting this list together. If you head over to their site you can see an entire UK based top 10. From a quick glance it looks like bland fish related names do a lot better outside London. The original data comes from the Food Standards Agency.
