Spring Has Sprung With Dominique Ansel's Beautiful New Flower Garden Afternoon Tea

Belgravia's Dominique Ansel Bakery has launched a new fruit and vegetable patch themed afternoon tea, just in time for spring.

The beautifully designed meal is served in the Insta-famous conservatory at the back of the restaurant, where a new flower wall has been installed, featuring blooms, flower pots and watering cans — and it might just be our favourite Dominique Ansel theme yet.

Strawberries and stuffed birds dangle in glass orbs above diners, creating a convincing English country garden theme that'll go down a treat with London's Instagrammers, but the food itself is also something to ogle before you eat.

The tea is served on four tiers, beginning with savoury items on the bottom, and working up to the sweet. We've had a sneaky preview ahead of the launch, and are thoroughly impressed with the design of the menu items. The 'Peas in a Pod' English pea mousse, crushed peas, fresh mint, crème fraîche, pea and parmesan sablé pod looks exactly like its green namesake.

But the best-looking item is the 'Strawberry Cube', a strawberry mousse, star anise-infused strawberry compote and almond sponge dipped in strawberry chocolate. You like strawberries, right?

Work your way up via fresh scones to the bushy top tier, where apricot and mango mousse and a caramelia honeybee are just waiting to be plucked.

Choose between tea, sparkling wine and champagne to wash your meal down, then kick back, take a few snaps of that flower wall, and wait for the Instagram likes to roll in — because if you don't 'gram it, did it even happen?

Fruit & Vegetable Patch Afternoon Tea is available at Dominique Ansel Bakery, 17-21 Elizabeth Street, Belgravia, from 5 March 2020. It's served Thursday-Sunday, at 2pm and 4.15pm, and starts at £39 per person, advance booking required.
