The RAF Museum is great fun any time of year, what with its incredible collection of aircraft spanning more than a century of aviation history. But what if you fancy some fries (or jollof/beer/mac'n'cheese) to go with all those wings?!
Enter Barnet Food Festival: a weekend of feasting and family fun on the site of the former Hendon Aerodrome, Saturday 13-Sunday 14 September.

This flavoursome new festival features more than 40 food and drink traders, with highlights including Afro-Caribbean/American fusion dishes (Peppy HQ), Hong Kong street food (The Tipsy Cat), wood-fired pizza (Bare Bones Pizza) and smoked meat galore (Crumpy's Smoke Shack).
There are lashings of sweet treats too — from Belgian chocolate-drenched fruit (Rupert Mole Chocolate), to Polish-style soft serve and waffles (Lodoland), to authentic Hungarian chimney cakes (The Chimney Baker).

As for the drinks? Get your caffeine fix at Bibby's Beans (where you'll also find some banging baked goods), or at mobile cafe Coffee-Bike (try their speciality lattes). If you fancy something stronger, head to the Luxuria Events-hosted Barnet Beach Bar for an expertly-crafted cocktail or glass of fizz (psst... a VIP ticket gets you a free drink here!)
You can even take a bottle of something special home with you, as indie whisky bottlers GreatDrams and small batch artisanal liqueur brand Chilard + Jordan set up shop for the weekend.

There's much more to Barnet Food Festival than eating and drinking, though. Enjoy live performances on the Spitfire Stage, with sets from the likes of 1940s-style trio The Barn-ettes and singer Lara Olivia, who fuses opera with contemporary tunes.
Kids in tow? Roll up to see former British Young Juggler of the Year, Arthur Hyam, who'll be teaching the tricks of his trade — plus other circus skills such as plate-spinning. Elsewhere in the Barnet Food Festival Kids Zone, you'll find face-painting, biscuit-decorating, and an Aerodrome Assault Course featuring giant inflatables — all free for kids to use.

Standard tickets to Barnet Food Festival cost £10 for adults and the event is free for children to attend. Adults can upgrade to VIP for a fiver and bag a complimentary Luxe cocktail at the Barnet Beach Bar (if the little ones are otherwise occupied, that is — children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times!)
Whichever ticket type you opt for, entry to the RAF Museum is included, so you can admire incredible vehicles — from jets to helicopters to seaplanes — and soar through over 100 years of aviation history in between feasting.
