Behind-the-Scenes TV series probes the secret bits of the tube.

Ever wanted to know what's behind that door on your local tube station? Chances are Tim Dunn and Siddy Holloway have been through it, with TV cameras.

Secrets of the London Underground is back for its fourth series on UKTV. The show goes behind the locked doors of the tube, visiting unfamiliar parts of familiar stations, and even turning keys on long-closed tube stops.

The opening episode of Series 4 takes a close look at Earl's Court station. The team pull back a hidden door to reveal a long passageway that once led to the now-demolished exhibition centre. It was last used by passengers in 2003. Siddy also visits Alperton station on the Piccadilly line to discover a bricked-up escalator with a curious past.

Later in the series, we're promised insights into Cold War defences at Tottenham Court Road, hidden tunnels beneath Waterloo, the abandoned station at South Kentish Town, and much more besides.

The series can be watched on Yesterday channel every Tuesday at 8pm, or streamed on UKTV. All previous series can also be found there, and we highly recommend you explore them (all free to watch in the UK).

Read our interview with Tim and Siddy from the third series, in which we ask them for their favourite tube facts.
