The annual extravaganza of science and technology is back!

Just how bad is the ice melt in Antarctica? How could we detect dark matter, or neutrinos? Will we all be getting our own personal brain scanners? And what's all the fuss over the James Webb Telescope?

If you're even a teensy bit interested in science, then get along to the Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition, where all of these questions will be answered. It's an annual, family-friendly event where the public get to meet leading scientists and quiz them about their work.

It's always very hands-on. This year's 14 main exhibits include the chance to test your puzzle-solving skills against other primates, and a VR experience that lets you shrink down to the size of an atom.

Here's Brian Cox to tell you more:

The exhibition is also a good chance to snoop around the Royal Society's marble-lined headquarters on Carlton House Terrace. Besides the exhibits, the rooms will be full of talks, workshops and hands-on activities.

The Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition takes place 2-7 July 2024, with an adults-only Lates event kicking things off on the evening of 2 July. It's all free, though you're encouraged to register in advance.
