40 pubs battled it out in a bid to triumph in the 2020 World Cup of pubs — perhaps a marginally embellished title, seeing as only pubs in south London can compete. But still. Nice big shiny cup.

The final of the competition — a ferociously-fought Twitter poll organised by our debauched pals at Deserter — saw the Old Nun's Head in, well, Nunhead, triumph over local rivals the Ivy House. Final score: 424-310.

What it's all about

This year's Wold Cup of Pubs actually has a cup (a beer glass gilded by a local studio), and it's going to be presented to the pub this Friday (31 January) by the chaps from Deserter.

How the last 16 played out

Make sure you're at the Old Nun's Head, Nunhead Green by 6pm on 31 January for the cup presentation — Bobby Moore-esque celebrations and all (maybe).
