Around the time London's Christmas lights switch on and the tree arrives in Trafalgar Square, the Santa Claus London Instagram account flies into action.

We've been following Santa's festive explorations for a few years now. Towards the end of the year — after making sporadic appearances in spring and summer — the man in red starts posting photos of himself at various twinkling London landmarks. (He even made it to London for Christmas 2020, despite the many travel bans in place at the time.)

The account is the work of photographer Neil Andrews — known on Instagram as @mumhad1ofthose.

Throughout 2021, Santa's not been up to much — understandable when you think we've been hokey-cokeying in and out of lockdown for so long. After a brief Valentine's Day appearance, he hung up his beard and boots until September, when he popped up in Mayfair.

But in recent weeks, the festive photos (and Reels — Santa's high-tech, y'know) have started flowing. After embracing autumn in Richmond, he's been spotted performing some sort of wizardry on the Covent Garden Christmas lights, admiring the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College, and contemplating who's been naughty or nice, on the Thames foreshore at Tower Bridge.

If previous years are anything to go by, expect plenty more shots of Santa's London frolicking, in the coming weeks.
