This Pop-Up Bookshop Only Stocks Female Authors

Penguin have opened a colourful pop-up bookshop in honour of International Women's Day. Not just any ordinary bookshop — this store only stocks titles written by female authors.

Some of the works on offer are very specifically about gender, such as works by Harriet Harman and Naomi Klein. An even greater number are excellent pieces of literature that just happen to be written by women.

All genres are accounted for: fiction, non-fiction, sport, poetry, graphic novels, children's literature.

The shop — in partnership with Waterstones — is also set to play host to numerous Penguin Live events that aim to showcase the most exciting British female authors.

Zainab Juma, Creative Manager at Penguin Random House, says: "Women's voices being heard and taken seriously is key to achieving gender equality, and with The Like A Woman Bookshop we're making room for those voices to be elevated and celebrated. We're creating a space where readers can look to incredible writers, activists and pioneers for the inspiration to go forward and make change like a woman."

Some of the goodies we picked up.

Like a Woman bookshop is at 1-3 Rivington Street, Shoreditch, until Friday 9 March.
