Feel The Love With Leadenhall Market's Romantic New Poetry Trail

An interactive poetry trail has popped up at Leadenhall Market to warm the hearts of Londoners during their daily walks.

Launched for Valentine's Day but here till the end of March, Leadenhall Love provides a soundtrack of some of the most romantic poems ever written for your stroll around the ornate City market. This a great chance to absorb the rare tranquillity of the market while it remains closed due to coronavirus restrictions — its shuttered boutiques illuminated in red to 'symbolise passion'.

As you feast your eyes on Leadenhall's iconic wrought-iron architecture, remember to look out for the QR codes that give you access to each reading. From Shakespeare's enigmatic Sonnet 116 and Christina Rossetti's euphoric A Birthday, the poems have been chosen to highlight Leadenhall Market’s 700-year history and each one is recited by a Leadenhall local.

Click here to check out the route in advance, or just turn up to the market — providing it's within your local area, of course — and seek out each sound sphere yourself.
