Know someone who's potty about postboxes? Have we got the treat for them...

We've created a graphic showing the evolution of the postbox, from 1852 to the present day — and now you can buy it as a print.

The graphic tracks the shifting shapes, colours and designs of the postbox, as it evolved under the reigns of various monarchs (spoiler alert: there are waaaay more different types of postbox than you probably realise).

From the first ever postboxes (which were green) to the now iconic red, and more recent gold and rainbow special editions, the print is a fascinating look at postal history (if we say so ourselves) , compiled by Londonist's own editor-at-large, Matt Brown.

Matt's previous forays into street furniture have resulted in the production of a tea towel adorned with a family tree of bollards, but he's really moved into first class with this latest work, stamping his inimitable love of trivia all over it.

If you're looking for a gift for a quirky history fan, retiring postman, or perhaps just yourself, snap up one of these unique prints. With that on your wall as a constant reminder, you'll never forget to post a birthday card again.

Head over to our Londonist shop. Here you'll find the print on sale in either A3 (£17.99) or A2 (£24.98) size, plus a small — and apt — postage charge.
