Paul McCartney's Höfner bass. Joan Jett’s Melody Maker. Dave Grohl's Gibson Trini Lopez. Just a few of the many esteemed instruments you're invited to discover in stunning detail at Scale.
This huge exhibition features 100 life-size photographs of guitars that have been strummed by some very famous fingers. Multi-award winning photographer Kane Hibberd spent 12 years travelling the world — shooting on stage, in green rooms, hotel rooms, and even musicians' homes — in order to capture them. Now, you can see them all under one roof, right here in London.

Head to Unlocked Shoreditch and explore the intimate relationship between artist and instrument through Hibberd's super high resolution, true-to-scale images. Spot the dents, cracks and rust that give character to these gig-worn guitars, and discover the candid stories behind them, their owners, and their contribution to the history of music with the help of a free audio guide.
You're free to roam the gallery at your own pace — simply slip on your headphones and choose between detailed longer stories narrated by radio announcer Mel Bampton and shorter versions presented by Radio 1's Dan Carter.

We already teased a few of the famous instruments waiting to be discovered at Scale. But its scope deserves closer attention. From Johnny Marr to Jewel, Noel Gallagher to Nile Rodgers, and from Brian May to Courtney Barnett, many areas of contemporary music are covered by the exhibition. Whatever genres you're into, chances are you'll leave with a new perspective on the songs that soundtrack your life.

Scale is at Unlocked Shoreditch — which you'll find on Curtain Road, a short walk from Old Street and Shoreditch High Street stations — until 31 August.
Tickets cost £19.50 for adults and £12.50 for concessions. Children aged 12 and up are welcome, with their tickets costing £10 a pop (with the guitars from artists like The 1975 and Ed Sheeran featured, it'd be a fantastic summer holiday treat for teens).
Whether you're a music lover, keen guitarist, or photography enthusiast, this jam-packed showcase is absolutely worth a gander.
