A Glowing Tribute To NHS Vaccine Success Has Appeared At Guy's Hospital

A spectacular new art installation has been unveiled at one of London's famous teaching hospitals. The 'Tunnel of Light' was gifted to Guy's Hospital in Southwark to mark a major milestone in the NHS's COVID-19 vaccination roll-out and celebrate our impending return to normal life.

The installation was designed by renowned light artists Squidsoup, whose work you might remember from Canary Wharf Winter Lights festival, to mimic rays of sunlight.

Inside the nine-metre-long structure, you'll find 160 'sun pixel' lightboxes that come together to create the illusion of a distant sun in a cloudless sky that beams down on visitors as they wander through it.

Car manufacturer Hyundai donated the Tunnel of Light as Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust celebrated having administered an impressive 100,000 vaccine doses.

From now until Sunday 4 April, staff and patients alike are free to bask in the optimistic glow of the installation — a small reminder that, after an incredibly tough year for us all, there is indeed light at the end of the tunnel.
