Want to listen to a concert in 'a dramatic subterranean Victorian space'?
Whenever Tower Bridge opens, giant counterweights descend into the vast chambers beneath the bridge. While the bridge is at rest, the chambers are empty: an acoustic gift for any musical ensemble.
Last year's Totally Thames festival pioneered the Stygian space as a concert venue, to great acclaim. The concerts are back again as part of the 2016 Totally Thames programme, and booking is now open.
This year's shows include classical and contemporary works for voice, curated once again by the appropriately named Iain Chambers and performed by the (hopefully not appropriately named) Juice Vocal Ensemble and Ben See Group.
Performances take place on 24 and 25 September at 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm and 9pm. Tickets are £25 + booking fee. View the full Totally Thames programme here.
